News Hathway adds 2.2 mn STBs in FY16; EBITDA up 52% amid drop in carriage rev

Buoyed by a sharp rise in activation revenue with a deployment of 2.2 million set-top boxes (STBs), Hathway Cable & Datacom reported a 52% increase in operating profit for the fiscal ended 31 March 2016 from the prior-year period. Carriage revenue fell 4% while content cost grew just 1% in FY16. Broadband revenue saw significant growth in the fiscal while the number of homes passed increased by one million. Consolidated EBITDA grew to Rs 388.6 crore (Rs 3.89 billion) from Rs 256.2 crore in FY15. Hathway Cable & Datacom narrowed net loss to Rs 163.1 crore in FY16 from Rs 180.4 crore a year ago
