Multi-system operator (MSO) Hathway Cable & Datacom has said that it has lodged three FIRs in multiple police stations against the recent disruption of its services across Pune.

Hathway further stated that it would take legal measures against the culprits once the police investigation is completed.

The MSO said that its fibre optic cables provided by Tata Teleservices were recently cut at multiple locations in the city by unknown parties, which led to disruption of its services for about 4–6 hours during the ICC World Twenty20 matches.

The service disruption also impacted the semi-final encounter between India vs West Indies, which led to huge consumer angst and created dissatisfaction among several Hathway customers.

Hathway said that the incidents point to a deliberate and intentional attempt to disrupt its services in Pune and to tarnish the brand image of the company, especially during a high-decibel event like the ICC World Twenty20.

Senior Hathway officials in Pune immediately took measures to counter this act of fibre cut by illegal means by lodging FIRs across three major police stations in the city and demanding a probe.
