On Tuesday, the public radio station in India, Prasar Bharati, invited applications to allot empty MPEG-4 slots on DD Free Dish on a pro-rata basis from April 1, 2022, until March 31, 2023. The Free Service provider started the process of allotment slots for 2022-2023.
The auction for those vacant MPEG-4 slots is available to everyone in all categories and TV channels, with an estimated reserve of 500,00 per year. The auction is anticipated to start on February 10, 2022, and the closing date for submitting bids on February 8, 2022, until 3 pm.
The only satellite channels licensed through the MIB Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) will take part in the e-auction. Broadcasters can participate directly or through approved distributor partners, and international public broadcasters accredited by the MIB can also take part in the auction process.
Channels that participate in this auction must pay a non-refundable, mandatory cost of processing, which is Rs. 25,000 on the internet, and a participation fee of 10 Lakhs must be paid by demand draft. In the event of a bid not being successful, bidders will be reimbursed payment for participation within 3 weeks following the announcement of the auction results. Bidders who are successful and have won slots are required to pay in ten monthly installments, each one being one-tenth of the difference between the bid amount and participation fee.
If the channel fails to make the payment on the date set, the 14.5 percent interest per year is applicable. If the track doesn't pay the amount required, then the participation fee and any installments already paid will be forfeited, and it will also be removed from the DD Free Dish Platform.
