In order to strengthen its position in the 3G market, mobile major Vodafone India has come up with new competitive tariffs for 3G data plans also known as Pay As You Go (PAYG).
The new plans range from as low as Rs 25 for 25 MB data usage to Rs 1599 for 12 GB of data usage. If the data usage goes beyond the stipulated data usage then the user will be charged at the rate of 2p/10kb.
The company claims that the Pay As You Go (PAYG) rate for prepaid customers is the most competitive and lowest in the market.
With almost 80 percent reduction from the existing rate at 2p/10kb, the company aims for commanding position in the market.
Vodafone said that it will now allow its customers to use data from their bundle package while on-net roaming across any location in India without any additional charge.
"With the introduction of these plans, we aim at establishing a foundation for providing a 3G data plan for everyone, making it affordable to the masses in the country. Also, users who shy away from trying 3G services due to prohibitive costs can now experience services without the fear of a bill shock," said Sanjoy Mukerji, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India.
Recently, Idea Cellular also announced new 3G data plans for its prepaid and postpaid mobile customers in Maharashtra and Goa circles.
The new data plans allow Idea prepaid and postpaid 3G customers to experience unlimited 3G services, with rentals starting from Rs 750 for post-paid customers and Rs 950 pre-paid customers.
