Yes, you're right. HT with AVR would be good, because STBs have only one HDMI out, and to get DD+ one need HDMI as well. So AVR will help in such case. I think it's time STBs should have at least two HDMI out.

I was thinking, if there would be two HDMI out, one can go to TV, and other to HT. This way we might not need a AV receiver.

But with out amplifier you will get good sound.
Is amplifier part of HT or it is the AVR which acts as amplifier?

AVR which is like amplifier.
Cool. It needs a lot of work to setup a HT. Good enough space to place all speakers at right position for the best experience.

satellite speakers would be enough to get good sound in small places.speakers looks small but deliver power packed sound.
