How many satellites would a DTH need to get all the HD channels on board ? Because it seems like most of the channels will turn HD in coming 2-3 years.

They need HEVC or x265 MPEG4 encoding real soon. I don't think x264 MPEG4 is enough.

Currently HEVC STB is costly, it will take another couple of years for industry to adopt HEVC for SD and HD
