yup. Airtel Owned showrooms don;t charge anything.
The thing is the SIM is on my mother's name. Can I get the SIM by taking my mother's document's photocopy ?

You can change the ownership as well by submitting your own document I did that to change ownership in Idea.

Some shopkeepers behave like this only
When I ported my mother's Telenor sim into idea, they didn't even asked about owner of sim
I just provided attested documents to them & they provided sim
It taken much time for porting though
