Pehredaar Piya Ki has been in the news even before airing on television and has created an outrage on social media. People refused to understand why a woman is marrying a child to protect him. More than that people are furious with the writers and the channel for coming up with such a concept. Even other television actors have been bashing the show and the concept of it. Well, the writer of the show, Sumeet Mittal, who has also made Punar Vivaah and Diya Aur Baati Hum, defends the show and feels that people ought to give it a chance.

Speaking about the reactions that the show has got on social media, the writer tells Desimartini, “We were anticipating the reaction because people judge it very fast without understanding things. You can’t control that after a point and the best way is to tell the story and wait for reactions. Viewers should give this show a chance because it’s a different kind of a story in the same social drama space, characters are unique and their problems are distinctive. There’s a message which is going through now slowly, which was seeded in the promos that it’s about a girl’s freedom, a girl’s rights!”

He adds, “The story is that she stands up against odd situations; she herself doesn’t know that she has got that power. She believes she is a girl next door. She also discovers herself slowly. The show tells that situations, circumstances make you strong rather than breaking you! I think people who are not giving a chance to the show will gradually start accepting it. Sometimes we have our preconceived strong notions but it breaks after some time. The show is mature and handled very maturely. There’s no romantic situation. It’s a bonding between the boy and the girl. The scenes are innocent scenes. Ratan, the boy always has a dreamy eye for the girl believing she’s a fairy. He’s always in the same mood and thought. It’s a special kind of a bond, not romance.”

I am unable to understand why the hell he is posting outside articles all the time. Even the warning didn't make him understand.

He is still unable to understand that its a forum and meant for discussion. And article etc are required to support the discussion.

I don't wanna be part of discussion where somebody is justifying child marriage and paedophile activities. No amount of discussions or justifications can justify such things.

This show is really intolerable and this is utter rubbish content. Child marriages are already abolished in independent India and any one partner to this crime should be put behind bars. (My POV)

I think everyone feeling disgusted share the same point of view. Also in ancient times when there was child marriage, at that time too child's were forced into the marriage. Over here this paedophile is asking for marriage.

How many times should we ask you not to post outside articles? You are indeed becoming intolerable with those sense less comments. Even after the entire forum being opposed to the concept and you are still defending it. And do you understand whose views are you borrowing? These people have interest in this serial and they'll definitely talk in its favour.
Do understand bro. The concept is entirely detrimental to the social fabric. How can one justify it?
