Without the cap of 15% maximum discount on bouquet offered by broadcasters, the new regulations by TRAI is worse than DPO offered packs before new regulations. Without that 15% of the maximum discount cap, the whole regulation has lost its value and TV viewing will become more expensive for people, since most channels have unjustifiably high price as a-la-carte, forcing consumers to again take bouquets offered by broadcasters, which are more expensive than packs offered by DPO before.
Imagine buying budget HD bouquets of Star, Zee, Sony, and TV18, prices will go beyond 400. People used to get those channels in just 300 or 320 before the new regulation. Only people who watch a couple of channels would be happy with this new regulation, for most people it will burn a bigger hole in their pockets.
