News 2-year imprisonment to a bank’s chief manager, borrower in fake house loan case

The Special Judge of CBI cases here has sentenced a former Chief Manager of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur and a borrower to two years for granting and disbursing housing loans of Rs.12 lakh on fake papers.

The case was registered on 4.10.2006 under relevant sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against O.P. Verma, the then Chief Manager of SBBJ, the then branch manager, SIB, both from State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, V.K.I. Branch, Jaipur and others on the allegations that the accused public servants in connivance with the borrowers, sanctioned and disbursed housing loans on the basis of fake/ forged Income Tax Returns.

A loss of Rs. 4.40 crores(approx) was caused to the Bank, said an official release.
