Sources said a fare discount scheme is being prepared too by Air India after rival Jet's announcement earlier and could be announced by the end of the week. Not to be left behind, Vistara - the only other full service carrier - is also coming out with a fare discount scheme before the end of this week.
The Air India baggage allowance scheme is a novel one: 25 kg free baggage; offer valid from 12 August 2015 to 7 February 2016 across all fare levels of Economy Class. Additionally, infants get a free baggage allowance of 10 kg. Passengers who have booked before 12 August 2015 also get the benefit of the increased allowance. The free baggage allowance of the international sector will be applicable for passengers travelling on Air India domestic sectors and connecting to Air India international sectors and vice versa.
