Hi Guys - Here comes my review on Airtel HD DVR.
Installation & Service.
Ordered the product at around 11 AM through online for Rs. 4,440 with 2 months South Mega HD Pack for Free.
Did not receive any call from the CC till 1 PM. Then I took some effort in calling the CC guy to check with them on installation.
Contacted the CC to my surprise the CC guy put me on hold he spoke to the retailer and conveyed me that installation can be done in another 1 hr but I requested them to come for installation at 4:30 PM. CC guy too my preferred for installation and to my surprise he also shared the retailers contact details.
Within 5 mins got a call from the retailer then fixed the time for installation at 4:30 PM.
4 PM got a call from a installation guy name Pravin and he told me that he can come to my house in 10 mins I obliged him and asked him to be in our house ASAP.
He came, went to the terrace fixed the dish I requested him to use the same wire of TS for connecting Airtel Dish.
Then we came down and gave a demo. The whole process took about 30 mins. When the technician left he share me his mobile no along with his other colleague stating i need to give them a call in case if i am facing any problems for the next 3 months rather than calling the helpline which was bit strange
About the Product & Features:
Pros
As far as the connectivity is concerned it’s the same when compared to TS.
Hardware feature & User Interface is ditto when compared to TS.
Remote is lighter to handle.
I liked the Time Based Recording which was not available in TS.
Video Quality of SD channels in 42" inch is better than TS.
Audio Quality in TV is better than TS both for for SD and Few HD channels.
Cost of hardware cost is less than TS.
Monthly Subscription Cost with Minimum & Maximum Channels
Installation process was equal to TS
Cons:
Airtel HD DVR STB is slightly bigger when compared to TS HD DVR.
When changing the channels the picture takes 1 or 2 seconds more to display in the TV when compared to TS.
I am not comfortable in pressing the remote keys which is small compared to TS remote and also the function keys could have been properly arranged.
To me customer care is not about providing information on adding new channels they should be well equipped with their product and features. I called the CC people to understand the process of adding the channels in favorite list. One guy was thinking favorite channels means choosing ala carte channels and other guy does know the process to add the channels to the favorite list. To me TS is good in providing training to their CC’s on their products.
Till now I am unable to log onto my account both in the web and app. I can’t imagine this happening with TS.
Channel Number orders are pathetic which is very very good in TS.
We can add 60 favorite channels into 4 different list in each list we can add upto 15 channels max in each list unfortunately we cant go to each favorite list with 1 button press rather we have to press the menu key and then press the favorite list which is also a pathetic process.
Over all i am happy with the purchase and i conclude that the Channels Packs & Cost is better than TS and CC service much better in TS when compared to Airtel.
