Amazon Prime Video has signed a deal with AMC Studios to secure first window rights for select AMC series in India and 27 other countries as well as second run rights in several other countries.
The first title covered in this deal would be an anthology series "The Terror" that is based on the best selling novel "The Terror of the North Atoll" and set to debut in 2018. Terms of the partnership or the deal period were not disclosed.
“This is another step in our efforts to extend the selection of premium TV shows available to Prime Video members worldwide,” said Brad Beale, Vice President-Content Acquisition, Amazon Prime Video. “We are thrilled to bring new shows from AMC, starting with The Terror, to our Prime members around the world.”

AMC Studios is the production arm of the US cable network AMC Network. Over the years, AMC Network has had breakout TV shows hits like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and Preacher among others.
In August, Amazon Prime Video started offering cartoon shows from Cartoon Network on its platform in India, following a strategic alliance with Turner India. It also announced a worldwide exclusive content deal with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in July.
In March, it signed a long-term exclusive deal with US entertainment conglomerate Lionsgate, to make Prime Video India as the exclusive subscription streaming home for hundreds of Lionsgate’s acclaimed films, television episodes, and upcoming new releases.
ET had reported in June that the Seattle-based technology giant has set aside an additional $100-125 million for original programming and content acquisition for the current financial year.
