Computer education and learning solutions company Aptech has joined hands with digital media and marketing firm Hungama Digital Media Entertainment to form a joint venture.

The new entity, a 50:50 JV, will be called Aptech Hungama Digital Education and will provide mobile education (mEducation) in India.

Under the partnership, m-education will be provided using mobile as platform for distributing educational content.

Aptech will be responsible for creating specialized courses across faculties in a form that is compatible with digital channels and connected devices, whilst Hungama Digital Media will develop this content for over 90 devices and distribute it via the mobile, Internet and DTH eco-system.

"With access to faster data speeds and smarter devices, the customers have access to the very best education content, across various subjects and specialization. This content will be delivered and upgraded on a timely basis, at the touch of a button. Connected devices, especially with the power of touch will now become the new tool for more interactive forms of learning," said Hungama MD & CEO Neeraj Roy.

The JV will bring out its first set of products in the next month. The initial product line will concentrate on personality development.

The JV entity is partnering with telecom companies to offer its mEducation services. Furthermore, the JV is also approaching Direct to Home companies to offer similar services on television.

"About 18 months ago, a team of four people was formed to explore the possibilities of mEducation. Several pilot products were developed thereafter. Four verticals, namely English and personality development, entrance examinations, K-12 segment and vocational education were identified by the team, as potential fields," said Ninad Karpe, CEO and MD, Aptech.

Last year, Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, and South-Asian entertainment content, announced their entry into a dedicated portal for devotees across all religions with the launch of Uninor Bhaktiras.
