German luxury carmaker Audi today reported sales of 11,192 units in India for 2015 with 3.14 per cent growth over the previous year even as it lost its leadership position in the Indian luxury car space to rival Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz sold 13,502 units in India last year as compared with 10,201 units in 2014, a significant jump of 32 per cent. BMW India is yet to come out with the sales figure for 2015.
In 2014, Audi had sold 10,851 units in the country, in comparison to Mercedes’ 10,201 units, to retain its leadership position. BMW India had sold 6,812 units in 2014.
“Audi has been the preferred choice of luxury mobility for car enthusiasts in India. The year 2015 has seen another year of growth for us and we remained focused towards our aim to provide the best luxury car buying experience to our customers,” head of Audi India Joe King said in a statement.
