Article BCCI liable to pay service tax: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has said that the BCCI will have to pay service tax for recording cricket matches. The court also dismissed the BCCI plea against paying service tax.

“If it (recording of match for live telecast) is not a service tax matter then what it can be,” asked the apex court bench of Chief Justice HL Dattu and Justice AK Sikri as BCCI counsel sought to assail the Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (Cestat) order upholding the levying of service tax.

These BCCI guys are so cheap and cunning, they want to earn crores of rupees by selling broadcast rights but not ready to pay Service Tax
