India's top GSM telco Bharti [HASHTAG]#Airtel[/HASHTAG] Monday extended its 4G service operations to Punjab's Ludhiana city.
Airtel customers can browse Internet over dongles, mobile devices (including Apple iPhone 5S and 5C), and Wi-Fi routers or customer premise equipment, the company said in a statement.
Now, Ludhiana has become India's fifth city to have 4G services. The rollout is a part Rs 4,000-crore investment and continued focus on Punjab by Airtel. Earlier this month, the telco had launched 4G services on mobile in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula under the Punjab circle.
"The much awaited launch of Airtel 4G services fulfills a huge market requirement and will give customers in Ludhiana the power to upgrade to cutting edge 4G technology," said Hub CEO - Upper North, Bharti Airtel Manu Sood, in the statement.
Airtel subscribers on iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C can start their mobile 4G experience by upgrading to a USIM (Universal SIM) / 4G SIM and selecting a plan or pack of their choice.
