News Britain's slowest broadband speeds: The village where it takes five days to download a film

The village of Miserden in Gloucestershire has the slowest averagebroadband speed in the UK, with one resident reporting a service so poor it would take roughly five days to download an HD film.

Four other areas suffering the slowest speeds are the village of Ashwell in Hertfordshire, Ulverston and Gilsland, both in Cumbria, and the village of Brent Knoll in Somerset, according to speed tests conducted by Cable.co.uk.

All five areas suffer "worse broadband than Mount Everest base camp", where visitors can access minimum speeds of 2Mbps via a satellite connection, compared with Miserden's average speed of 1.3Mbps.
