i came across this interesting article on livemint and thought of sharing it with you guys, opinions needed regarding this.
Why do most of Indian serials feature basic types like Banias, Punjabi mercantile communities or Rajputs?
The question is—why do most of the serials feature these basic types? They are either Banias, Punjabi mercantile communities or Rajputs. All together, these will not make up more than 2% of India’s population. Are we a nation that sees some castes as more attractive than others? The answer is of course yes. Even the lower castes will admit this through practice and it’s a subject for serious academic study
