he Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Durga Prasad Mishra, owner of a chit fund company and an Oriya TV channel MBC TV, over a chit fund scam. He was absconding for the last nine months. Mishra was the the chief of Micro Finance Private Limited, one of the 44 chit fund groups under the agency’s scanner. As per a report in the Indian Express, CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said Mishra was arrested nine months after he turned fugitive. Mishra, who headed 13 companies including Micro Finance Private Limited, allegedly defrauded Rs 500 crore (Rs 5 billion) from the investors. The companies had businesses in health, media, chit fund, transport and mining sector.

All these news channels are hiding scamsters behind them. Good that that jerk got arrested.

There should be stringent punishments for such mass frauds.

Another caught into the jail. But those people who fooled with these chit fund schemes want only their money back and nothing to do with what happening with these culprits.

East region is all about such Chit Funds and Lottery and in South also such schemes are running.
In TN, lottery is banned and in late 1990s many chit fund owners were absconding which led to stringent action from TN govt. As of now only reputed ones are there.
