A man convicted of the rape and gruesome murder of a nursing student in a moving bus on December 16, 2012, told a Delhi court on Thursday that he was thrashed by his fellow Tihar Jail inmates.
In an application requesting security, filed through his lawyer AP Singh, convict Vinay Sharma has said that he was beaten up “very badly” by five or six inmates of the jail on August 15th and 16th. He added that he was fears a risk to his life as some other convicts have been “openly” issuing murder threats to him.
Sharma claimed his left arm was fractured during the attack and moved the application before additional sessions judge Reeteesh Singh. The court has called for a report from Tihar Jail authorities and fixed August 25 to hear the matter.
