The Delhi High Court has asked the Indian government to explain the steps it has taken to prevent banned Pakistani channels from airing in the country.
Posting the matter for hearing on 15 April, the bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw directed Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain to file an affidavit on the same.
The court’s directive came on a PIL filed by Nishad Sharma who alleged that direct-to-home operator (DTH) Dish TV was providing Pakistani channels, banned by the government, without permission.
In his plea, Sharma mentioned the names of 16 channels, including PTV Home, Hum TV, Express Entertainment, BBSZ, Film Azia, Express News, Ariana TV and Khyber TV.
