Dish TV expects 20-25% revenue from live streaming section

Direct-to-home operator Dish TVexpects its video streaming application 'DishOnline' to contribute 20-25 per cent of revenue in the next two to three years.

The application allows a customer to view programme on smartphones, tablets and laptops.

"We expect that this section would scale rapidly and would cover 20-25 per cent of our revenue from this section," Dish TV India Chief Executive Officer R C Venkateish told PTI.

He added it would be a "trend changer" in the DTH industry and within next five six months, around five per cent of its revenue would come from this section.

"Around 5 per cent of our base would be opting for this new service," he said, adding that the subscriber now want to move from single TV screen to multi-screen format.

Through DishOnline, launched the last week, a customer can view programme on devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops.

Dish TV claimed that it has an active subscriber base of 11 million customers.

On some DTH players changing their format from MPEG 2 to MPEG4, Venkateish said that Dish TV has enough space and there was no need to change the format.
