Dish TV reports net loss of Rs.30.4 crore in Q1 FY13

Dish TV India Ltd, the direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television distributor run by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, said on Friday that its net loss narrowed to Rs.30.4 crore in the quarter ended 30 June from Rs.32.3 crore in the year-ago period.

Revenue rose 11.2% to Rs.578.4 crore from Rs.519.9 crore.

The DTH provider also added 200,000 net subscribers in the quarter, taking its customer base to 15.1 million.

The subscriber acquisition cost (SAC) was lower at Rs.1,828 compared with Rs.1,996 in the immediately preceding quarter. Dish TV’s average revenue per user (Arpu) for the three months was Rs.165, an increase of 5.1% from Rs.157.

He said subscription revenue had increased 15.9% year-on-year. “The resultant free cash flow of Rs.484 million (Rs.4.84 crore today) compares favourably with Rs.220 million in the fourth quarter and Rs.650 million for the whole of fiscal 2013,” added Goel.
