After setting footprints in seven states across India, Zing, the sub-brand of direct-to-home (DTH) operator Dish TV, is now gearing up for launch in Kerala.
Positioned to tap the regional-language consumption market, Zing will launch in Kerala ahead of the 31 December 2015 deadline for digital addressable system (DAS) in Phase III towns. Dish TV, however, has not disclosed the date of Zing’s launch in Kerala.
“The target is to launch Zing in Kerala next month, before Onam. It is a good market for Zing to be in as the TV penetration is high and viewers are very price sensitive,” said a source.
Incidentally, the whole of Kerala will be open for DAS in Phases III and IV. Zing will carry the Malayalam channels and offer it to consumers at a price that it believes will help it to tap the local market.
