eBay eyes acquisitions to expand in India E-commerce giant eBay Inc is planning to expand its fashion and lifestyle categories and acquiring online fashion retailers, according to a report in The Economic Times. So far, eBay has held discussions for possible buyout of Fashionara and Rocket Internet-backed Jabong, which did not work out, the report said quoting sources. “There were talks going on for a possible sale of Jabong to eBay a few months ago. However, they failed as eBay asked Jabong to completely change to a marketplace model that eBay operates. There has not been any such talks since then,” said one sources.


Snapdeal takes a cut on commissioned charged to sellers Indian e-commerce major Snapdeal has reduced the commissions it charges sellers in a bid to boost its sales, said a report in The Economic TImes. “You may gain from the reduced Snapdeal’s marketing fees in achieving more sales, as you will be able to pass on the benefit of reduced marketing fees to the buyer,” Snapdeal wrote in a May 12 email to sellers, said the report. At present, the reduction in commission, or marketing fee, is applicable to some categories of products, however, it could later be extended to more segments, it added.


Clarity in FDI helps Amazon to invest more in India Global e-commerce giant Amazon was believed to have faced a set back when, while the Indian government allowed 100% foreign direct investment in electronic marketplaces, but not in ecommerce companies that manage their own inventory. In an interview to The Economic Times, Amazon India Managing Director Amit Agarwal said that while greater flexibility for inventory-based ecommerce would have been good for the company in India, the new regulations give enough clarity for it to invest more aggressively in its seller services here.

Major problem in case of Snapdeal is their return policy. You have to return the product yourself and after that they will reimburse the amount.
