By 2098, Hachem Sadikki says, the social network will become the world’s biggest virtual graveyard.

The PhD candidate in statistics at the University of Massachusetts said that he worked on the basis that Facebook will continue to refuse to delete dead users automatically and that Facebook growth will soon begin to slow.

At present when a user dies on Facebook it transforms their page into a ‘memorialised’ version. The only way to delete the account of a dead person is for someone with the password to log in and close it down.
