How to buy FASTags

A customer can visit any of the Point of Sale (POS) locations at toll plazas/ issuer agency to get FASTag account created. Apart from toll plazas, FASTags are available in banks which the authorities have signed up with. For a traveller to get the tag, he or she can approach those specific banks.

Currently, there are many private and public sector banks which have partnered with the NHAI. HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Syndicate Bank, Axis Bank, IDFC Bank and State Bank of India are among them. Among the payments banks, Paytm offers FASTag to its buyers.

If they want it to be successful, the tag itself should be FOC, there should be no security deposit and the should be no charges on recharge of the tag

Great move. Now link it to aadhar and at toll Plazas & signals have auto screening and tolls and fines should be directly deducted from Aadhar linked account. Just the way its done in S'pore.
It'll stop corruption by traffic police & toll employees and also lead to faster moment of vehicles

No. It's a passive rfid tag. It gets charged from the rfid reader is in range and then transmit the unique id to the reader. Car can be tracked using GPS.
