The Western India Motion Picture and Television Sound Engineers Association has issued a non-cooperation directive to its members, asking them to stop work from December 8. If the threat is carried out, it will render several films and television programmes speechless, literally.

A letter sent out by the Association complains that its members are not granted leave nor paid a conveyance fees despite keeping odd hours.

The letter goes onto state that delayed release of payment and instances of sound professionals being sacked when they ask for wages, is the cause of their decision to launch the noncooperation initiative.

The letter states that the Association has decided to stall all "audio-visual programmes indoor, outdoor, studio, post production, film and serial shooting, ad films, song and music recording, editing, mixing, dubbing from December 8."
