Radio taxi operator GoCarz has inked a deal with Bharti Airtel to provide free internet connectivity to GoCarz customers travelling in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), as reported by Economic Times.
At the time of writing this article, it’s not clear whether GoCarz has inked a deal with Bharti Airtel for free internet connectivity as a long term plan or it’s just a short term marketing deal. It’s also not clear if the tie-up is part of GoCarz’ earlier announcement of offering free wifi to commuters or whether it will offer dongles powered by Airtel.
Also, there’s no clarity on whether the customers require any personal identification card to access the Internet (India’s cyber cafe regulations), the Internet speeds, and whether there is a data cap attached to the service. We have contacted GoCarz and will update this post as we hear from them.
GoCarz, a radio taxi operator, provides rental cabs in Delhi and NCR and also offers free in-car WiFi service to its customers along with other goodies like a free newspaper and a bottle of water. Cabs can be booked by calling 45458585 or by filling up an online form with requisite details. GoCarz charges a minimum fare of Rs 100 (Non-AC) or Rs 120 (AC) along with a convenience charge of Rs 50, which works out to be cheaper for a long distances (>5 km) distance commute, however, it could prove to be atrociously pricy for short distances.
Free internet is a great value-add for radio taxis which cater majorly to business travelers. Airtel, in return, would be able to leverage cabs as another form of out of home advertising.
