"From today, when people search for a nearby restaurant on their phone, they'll see an option to Place an order in the search results. Just tap that and choose your favourite delivery service like Zomato or Swiggy and you'll be taken to their website to complete the order,"a Google spokesperson said.
The feature is also aimed at shoring up Google's Search, which is no longer the go to place for a lot of commercial services like ordering of food or booking of cabs. Instead, people directly go to the apps. But by integrating the apps and services directly within the Search, Google must be hoping to put its search engine in the centre of the user experience.
