The government is setting up a laboratory to test imported telecommunication equipment for possible spyware and malware besides stepping up verification of phone subscribers to ward off cyber and terror attacks, Telecom Commission member (technology) J.K. Roy said on Thursday.
This will help in evolving a robust cyber security governance framework as critical infrastructures like telecom, banking and financial institutions, besides energy production and transmission become increasingly dependent on computer systems and networks, he said at a conference organised by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
