American Pakistani terrorist David Headley told a special court in Mumbai on Thursday that 19-year-old college girl, Ishrat Jahan, who was killed in an encounter in 2004 by Gujarat police, was a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operator.

On being asked about suicide bombers, Headley said, “I don’t know of woman suicide bombers in LeT and I can’t name any" but knows of a woman wing in LeT. He said that Jammat-ud-Dawa chief and 26/11 mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi told him about a botched up operation in India by Butt and that there was a shootout at a naka and a woman was killed. He recollected the name of Ishrat Jahan and said, “I think she was an Indian national and not a Pakistani but was a LeT operator.”

Ishrat and three others were accused of being involved in a plot to assassinate the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

On the third day of his deposition, Headley said LeT handler Muzzamil Butt told him, that after Indians had demolished the Babri Masjid it was "allowed" for them to attack Indian temples.

He said that Butt had planned the Akshardham temple attack in Gujarat in 2002. He added that Hazi Ashraf was in-charge of the finance wing of LeT and that his nephew was killed in the temple attack.

Headley informed Judge G.A. Sanap that in March 2008, LeT members, Sajjid Mir, Abu Khaffa and a former Pakistani navy officer decided that Headley should go to Mumbai to select safe landing sites for Mumbai attackets and that Khaffa's nephew was one of the 10 young boys who attacked the city on 26/11.

He said that he took one boat ride to Gateway of India, two boat rides from Cuffe Parade which eventually became the landing point and one boat ride from Worli. He said he used GPS to mark locations and saved the readings for safe entry exit.

Headley is deposing as an approver in 26/11 Mumbai attacks via video conferencing on a daily basis.

It's really an eye-opener thing. Till yesterday we were thinking that Amit Shah was a culprit and escaped from the law but reality turned out to be different
