Nikhil Wagle, who has spearheaded the editorial of Marathi news channel IBN Lokmat since its inception seven years ago, has put in his papers. Announcing his decision on microblogging site Twitter, Wagle said, “Just resigned from IBN Lokmat”, before adding further in his inimitable style, “Will continue journalism without fear or favour!”
Talking to TelevisionPost.com, Wagle said, “I have resigned today. Though I have not decided on my future move, I will remain a journalist as I have always been. After 35 years, platform doesn’t matter. I will continue to do journalism, wherever possible.” Hinting at Reliance Industries’ takeover of Network18 as the main reason behind his leaving, he said, “There have been many management changes lately. Problem is the nexus between corporates and politicians, and their putting pressure on journalists.”
