Idea Idea launches 21.6 Mbps 3G Dongle

India’s 3rd largest mobile operator, Idea Cellular has launched a new version of Idea NetSetter, a superfast 21.6 Mbps 3G dongle, in its four largest 3G markets in India.

An Idea release said NetSetter was India’s first Microsoft Windows 8 / 8.1 and Windows RT certified device. Idea 3G NetSetter is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems as well as backward compatible on EDGE and GPRS.

The Idea NetSetter 21.6 Mbps network supports HSPA plus network enabling download of up to 21.6 Mbps and uploading of 5.76 Mbps. Its micro SD card supports up to 32GB of data storage. Idea NetSetter offers a seamless plug-and-play functionality. The built-in SMS Manager allows users to read, write, reply, forward, and delete text messages, and users can also create and edit their contacts all this can be stored on SIM card or on laptop.

Does idea provide 3g speed upto 21mbps ? i got max 14mbps on idea 3g, i heard only reliance & docomo have 21 mbps bts....anyway it is better to buy factory unlocked modems than buying from operator.....

None will be able to provide you 21 mbps. It's the highest possible speed under ideal conditions. And it's almost impossible to achieve such conditions on a working BTS.

You should feel happy that you are getting such great speed.

If your question was regarding locked and unlocked dongle, then it doesn't matter much whichever you buy. Both will work similarly.

It's just a gimmick by telcos to sell bundled dongle to earn share on handset too.

i don't know which make/model idea is selling, so cannot comment on performance, i have seen mobile operators selling defective modems, anyway it is better to buy factory unlocked modems like huawei e3131 (1800rs)
