The three incumbent telcos, Idea Cellular, Airtel and Vodafone have launched 3G services in the state of Punjab, thus expanding their footprints to 21 out of 22 circles.
The 3G spectrum in Punjab is owned by Idea Cellular while Airtel and Vodafone have launched 3G services under the 3G intra-circle roaming agreement.
With the launch of 3G services, Airtel is able to offer all three services—2G, 3G and 4G in most of the parts of the state. On the other hand, Vodafone 3G services would be available in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jagraon, Kharar, Malerkotla, Nabha, Nawanshahr, Panchkula, Mohali and Zirakpur with immediate effect and will be rolled out in other cities in a phased manner.
