News Indian Bank ready to give loans to Cuddalore farmers

Indian Bank, which is the lead bank in the UT, is ready to issue crop loans to Cuddalore farmers affected by the recent rains, according to R. Manimaran, the bank’s General Manager (Rural Banking Department).

Speedy sanction

During an interaction with the flood victims after the bank distributed relief materials in Arulmozhidevan village, Mr. Manimaran assured them that the bank would also prioritise speedy sanction of agri investment loans like land development, minor irrigation and agri-allied activities such as rearing milch animals.

The Portnovo branch of the bank undertook the relief work at Arulmozhidevan village on the instructions of M. K. Jain, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Indian Bank in Chennai.

Rice packets

Relief materials such as blankets and rice packets were provided to 512 households affected by severe floods in Cuddalore.

Mr. Manimaran, who distributed the relief materials to the affected persons, also handed over Rs. 2 lakh to the legal heirs of Loganayagi who lost her life in the flood, as insurance settlement under the recently launched Prime Minister Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) by remitting Rs.12 as insurance premium.

The bank also distributed food packets to 100 affected households and sanitary materials like bleaching powers and lime powders to disinfect the affected area to prevent spread of disease in Kalkunam village of Kurinjipadi Branch, and reached food packets to 1,000 affected households in Elleri village of Lalpet Branch.

Good to see that banks are coming forward to help them but then they will make them suicide again because of non payment of loans.
