EntMnt Xclusive ISRO forms committee to probe anomalous behaviour of INSAT-3D

Indian Space Research Organisation has constituted a committee chaired by a retired top official to probe the "anomalies" on the country's advanced weather satellite INSAT-3D immediately after its launch on July 26.

ISRO officials faced anxious moments as the spacecraft was "untraceable" for some-time before it could be tracked by the space agency's Master Control Facility (MCF) at Hassan in Karnataka.

"A committee headed by T K Alex, a former Director of ISRO Satellite Centre, has been formed to look into the issue", an ISRO source told PTI.

It's immediately not clear if the primary system had suffered damage, and if it had implications vis-a-vis intended life of the spacecraft. Sources said the remaining critical operations were carried out using redundant system.

Meanwhile, ISRO said in a statement today that INSAT-3D, launched by European consortium Arianespace's rocket from Kourou, French Guiana, has successfully been placed in geosynchronous orbit after three orbit raising manoeuvres commanded from MCF.

Ohh my goodness, another fuss satellite is going to be hang in orbit,i have a advice to isro plz close this organization & Indian government should hand over to any other satellite foreign operator, now isro is only a counting machine of satellites lunches & they r only knows how to write down successful lunches on book record but i think they have no record book to write down how many working on space,i think no satellite is working properly after INsat @ 83e.

Some very nice points of isro

1.They have no proper launch vachical used always ariane launcher.

2. not yet developed more then 36 MHz trandponders,

3. if making 36 MHz then ok but reality is :which r not working properly.

4. always launching a collection total of fusses satellite since launch of INSAT-4A(Nov 2005).

5. no reports of launched satellites, working or not.

That why ts take decision to move on mpeg4. Might be ts knows that now gsat 10 will not work and we cant fool the user

i think ts should now start to talking another sat operator for tps i think isro will not be able to provide any tps.

This is the fate of government controlled organizations. People love to work here for the sake of job security irrespective of what is your output.

yes, they r not taking any new tech from worlds best operator like Eutelsat & Ariane, Ses.

If we takes recent example of recent of Hot bird satellites @ 13e, they have many extra backup satellites on other orbits if any failure then they will move it. but here isro is not able to launch even a single satellite only single since many years,Don't think about any backup plz.
