I feel, based on the culture and lifestyle of kerala; there is no space for a pure music channel and it wont survive. Its evident that, till now there is not a single pure music channel launched in Malayalam. Indiavision was launched many years back, and now they are in the verge of turning into a GEC or lifestyle channel.
. Kairali We, Kappa, Asianet plus, all started the same way and didnt took the risk of a pure music chnl. Plus, lot more easier to run a news channel; no issues of rights, quality content and reporting will do....
Unlike sun music; kiran shows 2 to 3 movies i believe a day. There were also plans or rumors that kiran tv may turn into a fulltime movie channel from sun group..
Yes, may be sun could invest in such ventures (pure music channel); same as chutti/kochu tv. They got all the rights for many movies; Plus, they can have one more exclusive channel for their DTH arm..
according to yes indiavision,they revamped the channel & now content in it is refreshing one.....out of which kiran,kairali we & asianet plus is utter waste.some years ago asianet launched plus as youth oriented & music channel.now they are re-telecasting programms from asianet.even some old serials are playing in prime time...I feel, based on the culture and lifestyle of kerala; there is no space for a pure music channel and it wont survive. And, for news channels there is lot of scope, as we like news channels and its evident that many of the top circulated dailies are/were from Mal langs.
...with in two days,we can see the standard of "kappa tv"....actually no need of new news channels.what we are expecting is HD version of asianet channels(including movies) plus a good quality music channel...still waiting...
