Karnataka’s Writemen Media Pvt Ltd, which owns and operates Kannada news channel Public TV, is set to foray into the music space with the launch of a 24-hour Kannada music channel called Public Music.

After getting the licence from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the channel is slated to launch on 28 September at 6 pm, with a tagline ‘Nobody Can Deliver Better Music, The Way We Do’.
Public Music will be the first Kannada origin non-stop music channel. The current players in the market include Sun TV’s Udaya Music and Raj Musix which operate from Tamil Nadu.

The company is spearheaded by HR Ranganath, a former journalist with Indian Express, Kannada Prabha and Suvarna News. It is promoted by G Manohar Naidu who owns Lahiri Recording Company and film producer and actor Rockline Venkatesh.

Public Music will launch with advertisers like Nikon, Intex and Denver.

The channel will be available on all the cable networks across Karnataka at the time of launch and within a week will also be visible across major direct-to-home (DTH) platforms. Apart from Karnataka, the channel will also be available on cable in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
