Tollywood and Kollywood industries have always been like cousins and neighbours and a lot of transfers keep happening in terms of films, actors, technicians etc. however, there is always an argument that Telugus give a lot of respect to Tamil films and heroes but not the vice versa.
Our folks have often maintained that the Kollywood folks have often ignored and neglected our movies. But here is a truth which not many know. The ultimate reason for the Tamil circuit doing that is our theatres are very large in number and Tamil Nadu has only half the number of theatres.
So, it becomes very tough to accommodate other language films. During festivals they cannot release Telugu movies because clash of theatres will happen and they have their own big films. That way, there is no intention of insulting anyone. One noted Kollywood senior mentioned “In comparison Kollywood is very smaller than Tollywood. Even the fan following is also not as large and fanatic as Tollywood where viewers spend thousands of rupees for a single ticket. We have a long way to grow.”

And the Biggest Surprise is that 7.19% of Population in India speaks Telugu whereas 5.91% speak Tamil.

Inspite of that Kollywood had been explored less than Tollywood.

wow I dont know this fact.False publicity is more in Kollywood all are fake records and fake collections about Tamil movies now Tollywood also following Kollywood.Now Telugu movies also giving fake records but not that much as Tamil movies.

Looks like Instability in few States and Political Issues too are the reasons for this discrimination.
