News Major telecoms partner for 5G

Bharti Enterprises' Founder and Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao, Masayoshi Son, Chairman& CEO of SoftBank Group, China Mobile Chairman Shang Bing, and KT Chariman and CEO Chang-Gyu Hwang have lend their support to GTI 2.0, a new 5-year strategic plan and mission, which aims to push the global development of TD-LTE, encouraging convergence with FDD, and to foster a cross-industry innovative and a synergistic 5G ecosystem.

Founded in 2011, GTI has been dedicated to constructing a robust ecosystem of TD-LTE, speeding up the commercialization of TD-LTE and promoting the convergence of LTE TDD and FDD.

"Bharti Airtel is delighted to be a part of GTI 2.0. We have led the roll-out of TD-LTE in India and are confident that it will emerge as the preferred standard for evolving mobile technologies. We look forward to collaborating with the consortium partners towards developing technology ecosystem for the future and help build a digitally inclusive world," Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Airtel, said in the joint statement.
