Travel company MakeMyTrip has launched its mobile apps for Android devices and iPhone, and an upgraded HTML 5-based Mobile Site for smartphones.
MakeMyTrip claims that it is the first Indian OTA to introduce an iPhone app.
These apps are designed to make travel planning easier.
India is amongst the top 5 countries in the world in mobile search queries, growing at 170 percent year-on-year.
MakeMyTrip became one of the top 5 most-downloaded travel apps in India with only the Blackberry app on offer.
"This overwhelming response encouraged us to extend our product offering to other popular mobile platforms. With this launch, all smartphone users will now be able to have a seamless experience with MakeMyTrip through their devices," said Amit Somani, chief products officer, MakeMyTrip.com.
The App allows users to search and book flights. Passenger details are stored on the device to avoid having to type-in the details every time and enable any future bookings with just a few taps. The App provides additional travel-solutions as well - users can view booking details, make cancellations, request e-tickets and even track refunds.
Mobile transactions made through MakeMyTrip apps are secure, and supported by Credit Card and Debit Cards of all major banks as well as NetBanking.
The App provides alerts on updated flight schedules; users can check the status of a flight with real time flight schedules.
Users receive details on exclusive travel deals and also get instant personalized deal notifications. Keeping the new age social media friendly mobile users in mind, the App allows users to share their itineraries on Facebook and Twitter; thereby enabling them to share instant travel updates. Going beyond ticketing and planning travel, the application also uses the device's GPS capabilities to find nearby restaurants.
