Kerala will have a new 24-hour Malayalam news channel, interestingly named TV New, starting 14 July. The channel is launched as a collaboration between Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and India Middle East Broadcasting Network. The channel was slated for launch last year with the name of TV Now. However, the launch got delayed, and the channel name has been changed to TV New.
However, the management is not perturbed and hopes to get a strong hold in the market soon. “We have already signed distribution deals with Kerala’s biggest MSO Asianet Satellite Communications and KCCL [Kerala Communicators Cable Ltd]. We are in talks with DTH players and will be available in 15 days,” said a source in the channel.
