A Pune-based man who ordered iPhones from Snapdeal got a rude shock when he opened the package. Instead of Apple's shiny new smartphones, the box had pieces of wood inside.

Darshan Kabra, a resident of Aundh, Pune, had ordered two iPhone 4S units from the online marketplace on December 7. His order number 3862653450 was delivered on December 11 at his home. In his excitement to get his hands on his new iPhones, Kabra opened the package even before the delivery person left the premises. To his shock and anguish, the package contained wooden sticks instead of iPhones.

Are these reports really genuine? I have so far ordered so many things from these e-tailers, but never faced such an issue.

I read this in other news papers too. But I still doubt on authenticity of this news. Even if it's true I am sure this is just to malign image of snapdeal by its competitors

nowdays many mortar competitors use this kind of trick to keep the customers away from online shopping. Even if it is sent my snapdeal, we can file a case if not worked out with the online shopping sites.

So now this seems to be true....may be some competitor managed to put pieces of wood inside the box....but ultimately its Snapdeal's responsibility to deliver the promised....
I remember old news reports, when a consumer found something inside a sealed bottle of Coke, similar news broke after few days but with Pepsi bottle.

One thing is for sure....one has to check the policies & practices that these retailers follow & then decide.....because it plays a great role in delivering service.
So for me now atleast Flipkart is out of picture.....

And I am sure it must be Flipkart trick to get someone registered as seller on snapdeal and did this to defame them.

I think if Snapdeal delivering goods from their own then they can defend ourself but if not then even if Snapdeal is not culprit they have to accept the fault.
