Maruti Suzukiis all set to launch the much awaited Vitara Brezza tomorrow in India. It is the Indo-Japanese carmaker's first launch in 2016 and the first sub-4 metre SUV for the Indian car market. The car was developed over a period of 5 years with a localisation level of 98 per cent to boot. The car will be offered in four variants - LDI, VDI, ZDI and ZDI+. Deliveries for the SUV will begin only by March 21, 2016 and Maruti is likely to price the Vitara Brezza in the range of6 Lakh to9 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Despite of the fact that the Vitara Brezza is some what considered to be a premium product from Maruti, it will not be retailed via the company's premium dealership Nexa. Instead the car will be sold in India by regular Maruti Suzuki dealerships. Initially, the Vitara Brezza will be launched with only the 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDiS diesel engine that we saw in the S-Cross, while the addition of a petrol engine to the line-up has been reserved for the future. Transmission duties will be handles by only a 5-speed manual gearbox though there is a possibility we might see an AMT variant soon. CV Raman, MSI Executive Director - Research and Development, had admitted that the company is indeed considering an automated manual transmission (AMT) for the car but it may be some time before it is introduced in the range.

With being said, the 1.3-litre diesel engine's performance is rated at 88.5bhp along with 200Nm of peak torque. In mileage department though the Vitara Brezza is expected to return 24.3 kmpl.
