The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has directed cable TV, direct-to-home (DTH) and internet protocol television (IPTV) to include DD Kisan under infotainment Hindi genre in prime band and display it on full television screen. Cable TV, DTH and IPTV platforms will have to compulsorily carry DD Kisan on their platforms as per Clause 7.8 of the schedule to the licence agreement. It will be obligatory on the part of every cable TV, DTH and IPTV operator to provide the agriculture-focused channel to the subscribers, irrespective of bouquets or a la carte channels being subscribed by them. DD Kisan’s programmes will primarily cover the agriculture sector and rural India. It will also carry information related to weather.
