Noting that the delay in replying to its references is coming in the way of issuing TV channel licences, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has given a final opportunity to the companies concerned to send their replies within 15 days. The ministry said that it is sending separate emails to the companies on the email ids last updated with the ministry. It has already issued notice of non-response to as many as 51 companies representing 73 channels. While maintaining that no permissions can be held up intentionally, the ministry revealed that 20–40 per cent applicants do not reply to ministerial references for more than three months to one year. The MIB has also decided to close all such requests where clarification from the applicant companies has been due for more than three months.
