Leading Indian smartphone vendor Micromax has revealed that its 4G devices are being tested with Reliance Jio Infocomm, which is the country’s only pan-India BWA license holder.
“We are on the test beds with Reliance Jio Infocomm that has got BWA licenses and is waiting to launch its network. Our devices are being tested with the telcos, since a lot of technology integration is required in 4G devices,” Vikas Jain, Co-founder and Business Director of Micromax told Light Reading India.
Earlier, Micromax Co-Founder Rahul Sharma had also confirmed that the company had started working on 4G LTE devices for the Indian market. “Yes, we are aggressively working on our 4G offerings, which will include smartphones and dongles,” Sharma said.
Speaking on the Indian 4G LTE ecosystem, Jain said, “4G in India is on a different band as compared to 4G in European and American markets. So, testing, compatibility and integration need to happen on the networks in the country and Micromax wants to evolve along with the telcos that are scheduled to launch 4G networks.”
