After raising an additional $5 million for its fashion retail venture IndianRoots at a valuation of $85 million from KJS Group, news broadcaster NDTV Ltd is now looking to expand in the booming ecommerce space with planned foray into auto and gadget ecommerce verticals. NDTV disclosed that in a first round of investor funding, the company has raised funding at a combined valuation close to $80 million for its new ecommerce ventures in ‘Gadgets’ and ‘Car & Bike’. While the company has not disclosed the amount, it said that the investors include Inflexionpoint (cofounded by former Apple CEO John Scully), Genpact founder Pramod Bhasin), Sixth Sense Ventures (founded by Nikhil Vora), Vindi Banga (former Unilever chairman), Hiro Mashita (M&S Partners founder and director), and other high-networth individuals (HNIs).
